Terms & Conditions
Last updated 16 September 2026 · Version 2026-09-16
These terms govern your use of TuckPay, operated by Thrive XYZ Limited. By creating an account or using TuckPay you agree to them.
Who may use TuckPay
- You must be 18 or older and be a parent or guardian of a student at a school that uses TuckPay, or a member of staff authorised by that school.
- You must give accurate information, keep your password private, and not share your account with anyone. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Staff, shopkeeper and school administrator accounts must be approved by the school before they can be used.
What TuckPay is — and is not
- TuckPay is a payment and record-keeping service for school canteens. Money you top up is held for canteen spending at your child's school.
- TuckPay is not a bank and does not pay interest. Wallet balances are not savings or deposits, and are not intended for any purpose other than canteen and school-approved spending.
- Funding is provided through our licensed banking partner. Each student has a permanent account number in their name for receiving transfers.
Topping up
- Top-ups are made by bank transfer from your own bank app to the account number shown for your child in TuckPay. The minimum top-up is ₦6,000.
- A service fee of 1.5% of the amount received applies, capped at ₦1,500 per transfer.
- A Nigerian government stamp duty of ₦50 applies to any single transfer of ₦10,000 or more.
- The fee and stamp duty are taken from the amount received and the balance is credited to your child's wallet. The exact amounts are shown on your transaction record.
- Transfers usually reflect within minutes. Delays caused by your bank or the payment network are outside our control.
- Never send money to any account number other than the one shown inside TuckPay for your child.
Spending and parental controls
- At the canteen the shopkeeper looks up the student — there is no card, cash or change involved.
- You can set a daily spending limit and restrict which items your child may buy. Purchases outside those rules are declined at the till.
- A purchase can only go through when the wallet has enough balance.
Fees and how the money is split
- On every canteen purchase, 97% is credited to the school's canteen earnings and 3% is TuckPay's commission.
- On school fees and activity payments made from a child's wallet, TuckPay charges 1% of the amount paid, capped at ₦1,500 per payment.
- There is no upfront charge, subscription or setup fee for a school.
- On withdrawals to the school's bank account, the bank's costs are deducted from the withdrawal: a ₦50 payout fee plus ₦3.75 VAT, and a ₦50 stamp duty on withdrawals of ₦10,000 or more.
- We will give at least 30 days' notice in the app before increasing any fee.
Wallet limits and account safety
- Each child's wallet has a maximum balance, set automatically from their school's fee schedule: the school's highest active term fee plus a ₦500,000 allowance for tuck shop spending and activities.
- Where a school has not yet published its fees, the maximum balance is ₦1,000,000. In no case may a child's wallet balance exceed ₦20,000,000.
- TuckPay student accounts are closed-loop: money in a child's wallet can only be spent at the school tuck shop or used for school fees and approved activities. There is no cash withdrawal, no transfer to a bank account and no transfer to other users.
- Any refund on closing or leaving a school is approved by the school and returned strictly to the originating bank account. We may review and pause any funding that appears designed to bypass these limits.
Settlement to schools
- Canteen earnings accumulate as the canteen sells, and are made available to the school for withdrawal to the school's own verified bank account.
- Withdrawals can only be paid to a bank account in the school's name. We may delay a withdrawal where verification, a dispute or a legal requirement makes it necessary.
Refunds and disputes
- Our refund and dispute process, including timeframes, is set out in the Refunds & Disputes policy, which forms part of these terms.
Suspension and closing accounts
- We may suspend or close an account where we reasonably suspect fraud, misuse, impersonation, a breach of these terms, or where the law requires it.
- You may close your account at any time. Any remaining wallet balance will be returned to the parent's verified bank account, less amounts already spent and any applicable transfer cost.
- If your school stops using TuckPay, unspent balances are returned to parents.
Our responsibility, and its limits
- We will take reasonable care to keep the service accurate and available, and we are responsible for correcting our own errors in your transaction records.
- We are not responsible for the quality, safety or pricing of food or goods sold by the canteen — that is the school's responsibility.
- We are not liable for losses caused by you sharing your password, by a bank or network outage, or by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
- Except where the law does not allow it to be limited, our total liability to you in connection with TuckPay is limited to the amount of the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim.
Changes and governing law
- We may update these terms. The version in force is shown at the top of this page and material changes will be notified in the app.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes are subject to the Nigerian courts. Contact: admin@thrivexyz.xyz.
